Common questions

How does Oskie decide what time dinner has to be ready?
It starts from bedtime, takes off the time you need to eat (20 minutes unless you change it), and that’s when dinner has to be on the table. Tonight, it counts from right now; for later nights, from the time you usually start cooking. You can set bedtime and start times for each day of the week in Settings on the website.
Why did Oskie pick something that takes longer than the recipe says?
After you’ve cooked a recipe a few times, Oskie uses how long it really took you instead of the recipe’s own times. Until then it uses the recipe’s times, plus any extra you’ve added in Settings.
A night says it’s busy, or my calendar isn’t counted
Oskie only looks at the calendars you pick: in the app, open the person menu, then Settings, then the calendars for dinner times. All-day events (birthdays, trips) are ignored. Oskie leaves 15 minutes after an event before cooking starts; you can change that in Settings on the website. If there’s no time to cook at all, the night shows as busy. Mark it as eating out, or change the time by hand.
The grocery list didn’t show up in Reminders
The first time, iOS asks whether Oskie can use Reminders. If you said no, turn it back on in iOS Settings, Apps, Oskie. Then check which list Oskie adds to, in the app’s Settings. Things you always have (salt, oil) are left off on purpose; edit that list under Pantry staples in Settings on the website.
How do I add a recipe?
The easiest way: open the recipe in Safari, tap Share, then Oskie. You can also tap + on Recipes and paste a link, add one from “New ideas for you”, or type one in on the website. You always get to check it before it’s saved.
A recipe website won’t load in Oskie
Some sites block apps from reading their pages. Open the recipe in Safari and use Share, then Oskie; that almost always works. If the page has no recipe card, add it by hand.
How do I share Oskie with my partner?
On the website, go to Settings and choose Invite someone, then send them the link. Once they join, you both see the same recipes, week and grocery list.
Where do “New ideas for you” come from?
From a handful of popular cooking websites. Oskie picks ones that use ingredients and dishes like the ones you already cook, and that fit your usual weeknight. Tap Not for us to hide one.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Settings and choose Delete account. It removes your account straight away; if you’re the last one in your household, the household’s recipes and plans go too. See the privacy policy for what that covers.
